Surface Preparation and Coating Application
- Prep concrete per SSPC-SP13 using 5,000 PSI pressure washer with a rotary nozzle
- Mortar deteriorated concrete using CemTec Rapid Cure Mortar or Sherwin-Williams Steal Seam FT910
- Prime walls and 4” out on floor using Sherwin-Williams DuraPlate 235 (3 -5 mils DFT)
- Saw cut a termination joint 4” either side of the joint
- Apply 100-120 mils of SherFlex Elastomeric Urethane to walls and out 4” on the floor

Project B: Concrete Rehab at Willow Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant
Surface Preparation and Coating Application
- Pressure wash per NACE RP-01-72 to remove surface contaminants
- Remove loose deteriorated concrete and create an ICRC CSP 5-9 profile
- Sandblast existing rebar and apply Sher Crete rebar primer to protect the rebar
- Apply a scrub coat of mortar on the area to be repaired to increase the bond between the existing concrete and the repair
- Make mortar repairs using Cemtec MSM mortar
- Make epoxy mortar repairs to the interior of the effluent chamber 1’ above the water line to the top of the chamber using sewer coat mortar
- Apply 1/8 – 1/4 “ of sewer coat mortar to interior surfaces 1 foot below the water line to the top of the tank
- Apply Sherwin-Williams Sewer Cote to exterior wall and top of the walls (20-30 mils DFT)

Special item to note: the concrete was soft around the tank, creating an additional challenge for CMT to remove what was loose and deteriorated – the top 4” of concrete.
